DIRECTOR STATEMENT

I grew up with four sisters and there is a lot I observed over the years, women bicker and complain about the smallest things! They obsess and accessorize, things are blown out of proportion.  Image is one thing that girls panic about. "Am I pretty enough?" "Do I look fat in this?" "Did you see what she was wearing?" Ha!

One thing I saw in the opposite sex was that women compete against one another. They fight for the upper hand of beauty personality, even men.  Worlds can collide.

So after years of watching my siblings, I decided to make a film called "Chi.” I took the same general attitude that girls have toward one another and put it on steroids. Girls will fight for their beauty, their stature.

It's one major cat fight!

PRODUCTION NOTES

"Production in Pain"
My head stunt coordinator Drew Serrano can be real creative when staging a fight scene.  He likes to use whatever is in the environment but with a brutal twist.  I have been working with Drew for about 5 years now and this has to be the best stuff we have ever done.  These girls were getting tossed into every direction.  They would SLAM each other into cabinets, garage doors, fighting with fire extinguishers, even thrown off a roof.  It was painful for me to shoot and watch, but they did it.

We staged this short in an abandoned warehouse for 3 days.  The building has been empty for 7 years.  It spooked us out, as we froze to death on the last day of shooting.  Blood was drawn, necks were torn, teeth were chipped, and enough black and blues to design a constellation.
